Marko Haavisto & Poutahaukat have become famous for their contribution in Finnish movie director Aki Kaurismäki’s films, especially for their role in "The Man without the past" (2002) as a Salvation Army band.
Marko Haavisto’s music have been used in many Kaurismäki films since “The Matchfactory girl” in 1990. That’s why for many, when thinking about Kaurismäki films they hear Marko Haavisto’s music in their heads. These two artists share same kind of outlook on life. The melancholic but witty atmosphere and resor-sharp lyricism are the trademarks for both. Just like Kaurismäki, these guys have edge, they have personality and they’re god damn honest.
